2023 Garden Waste Subscription Service

Published: 10 January 2023

Dacorum residents can now buy a subscription for the 2023 Garden Waste Subscription Service on the Dacorum Borough Council website.

The annual charge for the garden waste collection service is £45 per green-lidded bin. Residents need to sign up to the new paid subscription service if they would like to have their garden waste collected. If residents regularly create more waste than can be fitted in their green-lidded bin, they can also request an additional green-lidded bin for a one-off charge of £25, plus the annual subscription charge of £45 per bin.

Garden waste collections will restart from the fortnight beginning 27 February 2023 and continue until late November/early December 2023. The next green-lidded bin collection date can be found using the Council's online postcode checking tool: www.dacorum.gov.uk/mybins. Residents can also download their waste collection calendar from this page, too.

Green-lidded bins are for organic garden waste only, such as:

grass/hedge cuttings

twigs/small branches

flowers (including cut flowers that are kept inside the house)

small animal bedding made from straw, hay or woodchips (but not shredded paper).

Please note: all cardboard should be recycled in the household blue-lidded bin and all food waste should go into the food waste caddies. Materials such as treated wood, hardcore and turf should be taken to a local recycling centre.

No plastic, cardboard, food waste, pet faeces or other waste should ever go in the green-lidded bin. If this occurs, the green-lidded bin may not be collected on that occasion.

For more information on subscribing to the 2023 Garden Waste Subscription Service, or to purchase additional green-lidded bins, visit www.dacorum.gov.uk/garden-waste.

If residents decide not to sign up to the paid service, there are many ways they can still recycle their garden waste. Garden waste can be composted in a home composting bin to turn it into valuable and nutrient-rich food for the garden, or it can be taken to a local recycling centre.
